This is a dry and refreshing style of rosé, with vibrant aromatics of pink lady apple, orange blossom, rose petals, strawberry and raspberry complemented by hints of savoury spice notes. The palate is packed with grapefruit, pomegranate and redcurrant with a hint of guava held together by a backbone of fine acidity.

This Blewitt Springs Grenache is blended from younger vines, providing fresh fruit aromas and flavours, and 50-year-old, dry grown bush vines, adding depth, spice, and complexity. The younger vines were planted with cuttings from the 100-year-old ‘Smart’ vineyard. The vines are grown in sandy soils over ironstone and benefit from the cooling breezes flowing down from the Mount Lofty Ranges and in from the nearby coast.

The fruit was harvested in the cool of the early morning and gently pressed. This dry style rosé underwent a slow and cool fermentation in stainless steel with extended time on lees and regular stirring to build texture and mouthfeel.

Willunga 100 has focused on premium Grenache since its first vintage in 2005. It was the sensitivity to site that Grenache displays in McLaren Vale, that attracted owners David Gleave MW and John Ratcliffe during their first recce to the region. They became determined to showcase the old vine Grenache they came across in vineyard after vineyard, particularly at a time when few took this grape seriously.
