Vergelegen Estate GVB Red 2016
Vergelegen Estate G.V.B Red
Region: Stellenbosch, Costal Region, South Africa
Bottle size: 75cl
Grape: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Merlot
Flagship red from the Estate. Plum, chocolate, cassis and cedarwood on the nose and flavours of black cherry, blackcurrants and refreshing minerals on the palate.
The grapes are always sourced from the Rondekop Vineyards grown at 200 – 220 meters above sea level. These vineyards are extremely wind exposed and this leads to thick skinned berries that deliver very concentrated juice.
Since 1700, Vergelegen (meaning “situated far away”) has been a historic estate in Somerset West, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Extending over 3000 hectares, from the banks of the Lourens River to the rock faces of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, Vergelegen is one of South’s Africa’s most prominent wineries. This is reflected by the fact its wines have earned more than 200 local and international awards since 1999 including the coveted Château Pichon Longueville.
