A vibrant Marlborough Pinot Noir, brimming with aromas of black cherry, raspberry and plum, complemented by subtle herbal and spicy nuances. On the palate, polished tannins give structure and a vibrant acidity carries the aromas onto the juicy finish.

Fruit is sourced from vineyards in Marlborough's Southern Valleys, on rolling hillsides sheltered from the prevailing coastal winds. Soils are weathered clay loams and weathered gravels over a greywacke base and have excellent moisture-retention properties, making them ideally suited to Pinot Noir. The vines are trellised with vertical shoot positioning and the clone is Dijon 777.

Upon arrival at the winery, the hand-picked Pinot Noir was rigorously sorted. Fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks with 50% whole bunch to enhance the structure of the wine. Following fermentation, the wine was aged for 12 months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels. After careful racking and settling, the final blend was assembled and bottled without any fining.

The Tinpot Hut story began in 2003 when winemaker Fiona Turner and her husband Hamish established their own 20 hectare vineyard in Marlborough’s emerging sub-region of Blind River. Naming her range of wines after a historic Marlborough mustering hut, the ‘Tinpot Hut’ links the area’s sheep farming past with its current state as one of the world’s most dynamic wine regions. Fruit is sourced from Fiona’s ‘Home Block’ and is supplemented by grapes from selected vineyards. Fiona is assisted by Matt Thomson, a friend and colleague with whom she has worked for many years.
