This wine is straw yellow in colour with youthful hues. The aromas are delicate but intense, and are reminiscent of hawthorn and elderflower. Dry and fresh, with good body from barrel ageing, this wine is harmonious with lingering flavours of almonds on the finish.
The grapes for this wine come from the hills of Foscarino, one of the best known production areas in the Soave Classico region. The vineyards are trained using the traditional Pergola Veronese and are 30-40 years old. Thanks to the efforts of the winery to produce 'zero-impact grapes' and a production system with minimal environmental impact, the wine is sustainably produced.
The grapes were gently pressed, and the must was chilled and allowed to settle. It was then transferred to stainless-steel tanks for fermentation, which took place at 17°C to retain the aromatic notes. 10% of the blend was aged in small French barriques for five months before it was blended. The wine underwent a further three months of ageing in stainless steel before bottling.
Terrapieno, in Verona, is a collaboration between friends who have worked together for over 20 years. Matt Thomson of Blank Canvas makes the wines, while Luca Degani of Cantina Valpantena and Gaetano Tobin of Cantina Monteforte provide the grapes from some of their best vineyards. Sadly, Gaetano passed away in 2021, and winemaker Selen Uyar is now in charge of production. Alessandro worked with Gaetano for over ten years and ensures that his legacy and unshakeable commitment to quality live on.
