Terra d’Eclano shows complex aromas of ripe berries, plum, liquorice and coffee. The palate is rich with soft, silky tannins and a long, elegant finish marked by freshness, balsamic notes and delicate spice.

The Aglianico grapes for Terra d’Eclano come from five vineyards on the Quintodecimo estate in Mirabella Eclano, planted in 2001 at 420–460 metres above sea level. The south-east, south-west and north-west facing vines are rooted in a combination of clay and volcanic soils and are trained using a counter-espalier system with spur-pruned cordon. The viticulture is of the highest standards, with organically farmed and beautifully tended vineyards. Luigi’s perfectionist approach ensures that only the best estate-grown fruit is used in the wines.

The grapes are carefully selected before and after destemming, then fermented on their skins for 20–25 days at 28–30°C. The wine is subsequently aged for 12 months in oak barrels, one-third of which are new, followed by a further 12 months of bottle ageing.

Professor Luigi Moio is one of the world’s leading academics in the field of Oenology. His studies on the chemistry of wine aromatics have been widely published, and he served as president of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) between 2021 and 2024. Luigi grew up in a winemaking family in Mondragone, just north of Naples. After his PHD, he spent time in Burgundy in the early nineties doing research into the aromatics of Pinot Noir. On his return, he was appointed Professor of Oenology at the University of Naples. While teaching, he also worked as a wine consultant to some of the best producers in Campania, but soon realised that his real calling was to make his own wines, with an uncompromising approach to quality
