Monrouby Syrah Carignan IGP Pays d'Oc 2022
Monrouby Syrah Carignan IGP Pays d'Oc
Region: Languedoc, France
Vintage: 2025
Bottle size: 75cl
Grape: Syrah Carignan
ABV: 13%
This blend of Syrah and Carignan is a deep ruby in colour. The nose displays aromas of blackberry, red plum and a touch of spice. On the palate, ripe fruit flavours are balanced by a lively acidity and well-integrated tannins.
The vineyards are located on clay-limestone terraces called “Costieres” which overlook the Etang de Thau. They enjoy a Mediterranean climate that is tempered by maritime influences which help to reduce vine stress.
The grapes were picked at the perfect level of maturity and, once at the winery, were macerated on the skins for 15-20 days to extract good levels of colour and flavours. Fermentation took place at controlled temperatures of between 20-23°C, which ensured that there was no over-extraction. No oak was used during maturation in order to retain the pure fruit characters of both varietals.
Monrouby is a small village in the Languedoc, close to Pomérols, in which the Baron de Badassière and the Vignes de L’Eglise wines are produced. The wines are made by Matt Thomson of Blank Canvas and winemaker Marguerite Vasseur, who vinifies several varieties separately due to the exceptional quality of the fruit.
