Rather softly tinted, cherry-red color.  Intense, elegant bouquet with fruity aromas of sour cherries and rose hips, underlaid with spicy notes of undergrowth, mushrooms and moss.  Ripe and full-bodied on the palate, very elegant and harmonious with distinctive, slightly salty Minerality and racy freshness, juicy with an impressive length in the finale – a unique wine with a strong personality.

This ambitious project began in 1995 when Miguel A. Torres, the fourth generation and current President of the company, began the search for slate soil terrain in Chile (soil that the Chileans refer to as "piedra laja", or stone slab) with the idea of producing a top range wine of great personality inspired by the magnificent reds of the Priorat and Douro regions. After several years of searching Torres finally came upon a suitable terrain in the Empedrado valley, near the city of Constitución, about 400 km south of Santiago de Chile and 26 km from the sea. In 2001 the Torres family acquired 369 hectares, 25 of which were used for planting in terraces at an altitude of 500 metres at the highest point and with an overall height difference of 250 metres.

In 1979 the Torres family purchased 100 hectares of vineyard in Maquehua, San Francisco Norte and Cordillera, together with a winery in the Curicó Valley. Miguel Torres brought with him his family’s long tradition of wine-making and over 140 years of company history. The Chilean Central Valley has an ideal climate for top quality viticulture. This Phylloxera-free region is dominated by the presence of the Andes, their peaks crowned with permanent snow. The difference in temperatures between day and night provides the optimum conditions for development of the grapes and increases their ability to retain their finest aromas.
