Vibrant, youthful notes of black cherry, hibiscus, pomegranate and rhubarb, as well as flint and graphite on the nose. Firmer tannins than the Les Larmes which are balanced against the juicy acidity. A long and elegant finish that builds depth.

All the sources for the Sonoma Coast regional wine are exceptional sites worthy of vineyard designation in their own right. 36% of the final blend comes from Richard Ranch in Anapolis on the northern end of the Sonoma Coast, 10% is from Balinard Vineyard in the western hills of Sebastopol. 33% is from press wines of vineyard designate lots: Hirsh, Mays Canyon, The Pivot, The Haven and Thieriot vineyards. All of the sites are farmed using organic and bio-dynamic methods. The proximity to the ocean and morning fog moderates the temperature in the vineyards, producing wines of superb elegance.

The organically produced grapes were fermented at controlled temperatures before being matured for 10 months in French oak prior to bottling; 21% of the oak was new. Before bottling the wine was not fined or filtrated.

Ted and Heidi have an incredible winemaking pedigree between them. Heidi honed her craft in the esteemed cellars of Domaine Chandon, Robert Pecota Winery, Robert Long Vineyards and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. Meanwhile, Ted first studied winemaking at the University of Dijon in 1981, before carving out an impressive career in Burgundy. The estates he has worked for include Domaine Roulot, Domaine Georges Roumier, Domaine De Villaine and Domaine Dujac. When this duo decided to turn their attention jointly to California, it was inevitable that the results would be spectacular.
