Kir-Yianni Ramnista Naoussa Xinomavro 2020

Ramnista is named after the local term for “royal hill,” referencing the rolling slopes of the Kir-Yianni Estate in Naoussa. The wine comes exclusively from the Ramnista vineyard parcels, considered the historic heart of Xinomavro, with each vintage carefully selected to express both variety and site. Vines are planted at 4,000 per hectare and trained using a Double Cordon system. The parcels differ in exposure, slope and soils—ranging from sandy loam to clay-loam with pH 5.5–7.5—factors that shape drainage, root development, and ultimately the wine’s firm structure and aromatic depth

Grapes underwent rigorous selection on a conveyor belt before a cold soak of seven days at 8–10 °C. Fermentation lasted 10–15 days with pigeage and pump-overs, carried out in a combination of French oak vats (5 tonnes) and stainless steel tanks (5 tonnes) at temperatures between 19 and 23 °C. This temperature range was maintained during post-fermentation maceration, which lasted a further 2–6 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barrels. The wine was matured for 16 months in French oak barrels of 225 and 500 litres, using a mix of first, second and third fill barrels. The initial blending of individual blocks occurred after six months of maturation, with the final blend assembled prior to bottling.
