Aromas of citrus, green apple and white flowers, along with subtle, integrated notes of brioche. The texture on the palate is silky, with delicate bubbles, bringing back memories of English cream and acid fruit; on the finish, a mineral, earthy touch appears.

After the manual harvest in 25 kg boxes and the passage through the selection table, we pressed the whole bunches, with 52% of the extraction, separating the fractions and choosing the must with the lowest pH, the most suitable for long ageing. Once the tirage has been completed, Argent is aged for more than 33 months. The process is entirely handmade and, during the time of resting in the cellar, we use natural cork stoppers, which favours the longest ageing. We use desks for clarification. The stirring is done by hand, as is the disgorging, after which a moderate dosage of approximately 4 grams per litre is added.

In 1850 Josep Batlle was working as a winemaker and grower for a family who owned the vineyards in La Plana, in the Anoia River valley. When phylloxera was ravaging the vineyards of France and much of Europe, Josep Batlle’s son, Pau, set about selling wine to the French sparkling wine producers, who knew the Catalonia region well, as it was their main cork supplier at the time. Using the Xarel·lo as a base, Pau learnt how to refine his own wines for this purpose. This led to him setting up his own winery, Cellar Battle, in 1881 and enabled him to buy the vineyards that his father used to work
