The wine has a deep, herbal, smoky nose with aromas of ripe red berries, cedar, dried flowers, mint and some spice. The palate is layered with notes of black cherries, smoke, tobacco, liquorice, dried herbs and is intense, supple and forward. The finish is long and fragrant with notes of chocolate, making for a wine with plenty of character and excellent depth.

The Giachini vineyard is located in Annuziata in the commune of La Morra. The vineyard features blue marl soil which is typical for this area and consists of mainly calcareous and clay. Sitting at an altitude of 230-265 meters, the vines have full south-facing exposure and are trained in espalier style with a Guyot pruning system.

Grapes were crushed and destemmed at the winery. Berries underwent five to seven days of maceration in temperature-controlled rotary fermenters at 25-30°C, then fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was moved to small barriques (225 litres) of which 35% were new and 65% were used (second and third passage) for 24 months. The wine was transferred to stainless-steel tanks for final blending, where it remained for six months. Finally, the wine spent a year in bottle before release.

The Corino family have farmed land in La Morra since the 1950s, originally coming to the region as ‘mezzadri’, or sharecroppers. Yet it wasn’t until Giuliano Corino took over from his grandfather Giovanni in the 1980s that the Corino name became synonymous with some of La Morra’s finest Nebbiolo. Having originally sold their fruit, Giuliano was determined to start making and bottling his own wine from his family's vines.
