Deep ruby red, clear and bright. The nose shows nuanced aromas of ripe red and wild berries. The palate is balanced and medium-bodied, with a pronounced fruity character. A persistent finish reveals lingering notes of red fruit and liquorice.

‘El Maso’ is Finca Fella’s flagship wine, made from the teinturier grape Alicante Bouschet for which Almansa is best known. The wine’s depth of flavour and inky colour come both from the low-yielding 90-year-old bush vines and the variety’s pigmented pulp. Aged in a combination of French and American oak for 12 months, the brooding dark fruit is complemented by a subtle spiciness.

Finca Fella, the Fantini group’s first project outside of Italy, is based in Almansa in the eastern corner of Castilla La Mancha. Winemaker Dennis Verdecchia was drawn to the region’s wealth of low-yielding, old bush vines.
