A deliciously juicy Garnacha, brimming with aromas of red cherry, strawberry and raspberry. Vibrant on the palate, with smooth tannins and a wonderfully refreshing acidity.

The Garnacha comes from organically farmed vineyards at 550 to 750 metres above sea level. Cool nights at this elevation provide relief from the heat of the Yecla days. The vines are trellised and planted at a density of 1,600 vines per hectare. Soils are sandy limestone and the vines are on average 20 years old.

Upon arrival at the Familia Castaño winery, the Garnacha bunches were destemmed and crushed. Fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 26-28ºC with gentle pumpovers and lasted for 15 days. Unoaked, the wine was racked off the skins and kept in stainless steel for a short period before bottling.

Based in Yecla, Murcia, Familia Castaño is known for its huge efforts to promote one of Spain’s native varieties: Monastrell. Familia Castaño embodies the best of what southern Spain has to offer, producing rich, warm-climate wines, with almost Syrah-like complexity, which overdeliver in terms of value year after year.
