Deep ruby in colour with violet hues, this wine has a complex and aromatic nose of red berry and blackberry fruits, mingled with spices and a touch of cedar wood. On the palate there is a supple texture with an attractive mineral character that defines the appellation of Graves. Dark fruit and spice dominate the mid-palate providing excellent depth that is supported by ripe, smooth tannins.
Château Mouras is a six-hectare property with vineyards in the Graves communes of Portets, Illats and Landiras. Jean-Christophe has just six hectares of red grape varieties in the small communes of Portets, Illats et Landiras. The average age of the vines is 25 years old.
The grapes were hand-picked then spent nearly four weeks on their skins at 28°C - 30°C. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation at 22°C and was then aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
