Capezzana Trebbiano

Region: Tuscany, Italy

Vintage: 2024

Bottle size: 75cl

Grape: Trebbiano

ABV: 13.5%

This wine is vibrant yellow amber in colour with green youthful hints. The nose displays yellow flowers, almond and vanilla from the oak influence. On the palate, it is intense and harmonious with delicate tannins and a softly elegant mouthfeel that is well balanced. It ends in a long, complex finish.

Grapes for the Capezzana Trebbiano are grown on the estate's 104 hectares of vineyards which are all certified organic. The vines are planted on east facing slopes at 100-150 meters above sea level. Soils are a mixture of alberese and galestro clay schist.

Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were divided equally between stainless steel tanks and oak barriques to undergo alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 18°C for ten days. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak for six months, then matured for an additional six months in bottle prior to release.

All of the grapes were hand harvested. Fermentation lasted seven days and took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Temperatures did not exceed 28°C during fermentation. After 13 days of maceration, the wine was transferred into French barriques, where malolactic fermentation was completed within one month. The wine was aged for 18 months in 225-litre French oak barriques, of which 10% were new. It remained in bottle for at least a year before release.

Capezzana, situated in the Carmignano zone to the west of Florence, is owned and run by the Contini Bonacossi family, the latest in a long line of owners. In fact, in the archives in Florence, they discovered a contract for the rent of vines and olive groves at Capezzana signed in 804 AD.
