Swinney Farvie Mourvedre Frankland River

Region: Frankland River, Australia

Vintage: 2019

Bottle size: 75cl

Grape: Mourvedre

ABV: 14%

On the nose - Focused fresh and complex with satsuma plums and wild raspberries combined with Chinese five-spice, and nori. On the palate- Medium bodied with plenty of salted licorice, pomegranate molasses, white pepper and ferrous, rusty elements. The wine is taught and fleshy with an assertive, gravelly structure and plucky acidity providing freshness and incredible length.

The Farvie wines, first released in March 2020 from the 2018 vintage, represent the highest quality expression of our family’s best vineyard sites. The wines are the result of a vineyard–focused philosophy of meticulous attention to site selection and precise grape growing practices. These include dry growing, organic farming principles, intensive shoot and fruit thinning, and careful, deliberate bunch selection from fruit growing either on the morning side of the canopy or protected by shade cloth.

George John Alexander Swinney was a pioneer of the Frankland River Region. Guided by the Swinney family motto, Quo Fata Vocant—Whither the Fates Call—George settled at ‘Franklands’ in 1922. Located on the banks of the Frankland River, the property features gently undulating hills, dominated by jarrah and redgum trees growing upon ironstone gravel and loam soils
