Produced from vineyards situated in the Vilariça Valley an area in complete contrast to the steeply terraced slopes of the main Douro Valley. Rainfall is low at about 500 mm with very cold winters and hot summers. The combination of these factors creates ideal conditions for organic viticulture and for the production of exceptional Douro wines; very aromatic, deep-coloured and concentrated, showing the unique identity of the Vilariça terroir.

Located in the remote Vilariça Valley in the Douro Superior, Quinta do Ataíde is home to 112 hectares of organically farmed vineyards and our new low-impact winery. With its softly undulating landscape of schist soils mixed with some alluvial clay, it is a truly unique place to make wine.
