The wine is garnet red in colour with medium intensity. On the nose, it shows beautiful floral notes, accompanied by hints of red fruits. On the palate, it is harmonious, with polished tannins and balanced acidity. Its pleasantness highlights the more refined character of this territory.
The 3.5 hectare vineyards are located in highly vocated A.G.M.s, in the village of Neive. Vines are up to 40 years old and guyot trained. Soil is predominantly marly/calcareous, with variable clay or sand components, respectively in the most ancient or most recent geological formations. The mixed consistency of the terroir in the Barbaresco area offers a unique nuance of Nebbiolo expression. These vineyards are able of producing wines of exceptional balance and finesse, very elegant and refined.
This 23 hectare estate has been in the Massolino family since 1896. In recent years, the style of the wines has undergone a subtle transformation. Winemaker Franco Massolino has done a wonderful job of marrying change with a respect for tradition, something that sets Massolino apart from many of the younger producers in Barolo today. The vineyards, with vines up to 60 years old, are in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba
