Appellation Lunlunta shows a deep violet color with purple reflections. The nose offers concentrated aromas of ripe red and dark fruits with traces of vanilla and moca. Lunlunta is an idyllic district of small orchards and tree-lined country roads, well known for its ancient Malbec vines and silty-clay soils. This wine goes through cold maceration for some grape lots for 3-5 days under 50ºF (10ºC). The juice is then fermented for 10-17 days with a total maceration of 0-6 days. 11-13 months in 100% French oak. 25-40% new, second and third use.
For over four generations, the Catena family has grown vines in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Mendoza, Argentina. In his pursuit to make wines that stand with the best in the world, Nicolás Catena identified the best lots, and rows, in the Catena family’s estate vineyards.
