The Comboio do Vesúvio White is the latest addition to the portfolio of this iconic brand, upholding the precision and quality that de ne this historic estate. With this wine, they aimed to capture the freshness, elegance, and complexity that the nest white wines of the Douro can offer.

There has been a station on the main line Douro railroad at Quinta do Vesúvio since 1887 and the trains that daily call there are very much part of the property’s day to day life. This railway forms part of Vesúvio’s rich heritage and when the Symington family decided to launch this third dry red wine from the legendary estate, it felt only natural to evoke the propitious coexistence between railway and vineyard. The ‘Comboio do Vesúvio’ (Vesúvio Train).

Founded by the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, Quinta do Vesuvio is one of the great Douro estates. It has a total area of 326 hectares, of which 133 hectares are planted with vines. The rest has been conserved in its natural state. The property has great variations in altitude, from 130m at the riverside to 530m at the top of the ridge. It has vineyards that face north, south, east and west, providing a remarkable range of conditions. Being so far inland, only 30k from Spain, the Quinta experiences climatic extremes, reaching very high temperatures in summer and very low in winter. It is very dry, with an average of only 400mm of rain falling each year.
