From the Catena Institute’s historical vineyard project, The Birth of Cabernet is a tribute to the earliest Cabernet vines planted in Mendoza. Rich Agrelo cabernet offers tobacco and black olive, cedar, and pungent black fruit notes with glorious tannins and a long finish.

The harvest is done by hand, and the fermentation takes place in concrete eggs, small stainless-steel tanks and French oak roll-fermentors, at temperatures of 26-28°C for about 12-18 days. Total maceration of around 18-22 days. Aged in French oak for 18-24 months. First, second and third use barrels.

For over four generations, the Catena family has grown vines in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Mendoza, Argentina. In his pursuit to make wines that stand with the best in the world, Nicolás Catena identified the best lots, and rows, in the Catena family’s estate vineyards.
