The color is deep red with ruby highlights. The nose reveals intense aromas of red and black fruits, cherries and blackberries, as well as delicate woody notes resulting from ageing in oak barrels. On the palate, the structure is harmonious, with silky tannins revealing a multitude of fruity, vanilla and truffle flavors, all with great finesse and freshness.
At Château Bellegrave, the harvest has always been done by hand, a practice that is even more valued today in the context of organic farming. The harvest is, of course, done plot by plot, and the grapes are only brought into the vineyard at the very threshold of ripeness. Technology plays a crucial role in the process, with highly sophisticated sorting tables ensuring the removal of unwanted leaves, stems, and berries. The lightly crushed berries then undergo a natural fermentation and maceration in temperature-controlled tanks for optimal temperature regulation.
The wine is aged in oak barrels from the Allier region, more specifically from the Tronçais forest. This very fine-grained wood delicately spices the wine without overpowering it, and accompanies it throughout its maturation until bottling, approximately 20 months later. Quite simply!
