This Beaujolais blanc displays vibrant citrus and white stone fruit aromas with hints of blossom. The palate is fresh and rounded, balanced by crisp acidity that lingers on the elegant finish.
Dominique has 18 hectares of vineyards across Beaujolais, which are planted on relatively low vigour granite soils. The estate’s Beaujolais-Villages Blanc comes from a plot called "Replat de Vavre" in Emeringes. The vines are Guyot trained and planted at high-density (8,000 vines per hectare). All work in the vineyard, including harvesting, is done by hand. The vines are an average of 15 years old.
Harvest took place early in the morning to take advantage of the cool night-time temperatures and preserve freshness in the Chardonnay grapes. Upon arrival at the winery, they were gently pressed before undergoing fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation before spending four to five months on fine lees, to add complexity and texture.
This family-run winery based just north of Fleurie dates back to the early 1900s and has been run by current Winemaker Dominique Morel since 1967. Dominique’s philosophy is to make wines he likes to drink, with plenty of fruit, a good colour and a rounded mouthfeel.
