A thrilling wine that leaps from the glass with instant rapport. A medium- bodied palate with juicy dark berry fruits, blueberries, violets, graphite and flint, held together with fine, supple tannins. Smooth & delicious.
Named in honour of the family’s original use for the building that now houses the Cellar Door, the 2020 Butchers Block Shiraz is a modern, fresh and fruit driven wine. Source blocks were selected for spice and lift, representing a fresher and more layered version of ‘Barossa Valley shiraz’. 15% whole bunch used to increase spice and structure, with 100% old oak allowing fruit to take the fore.
Turkey Flat is the local name for the vineyard property and is believed to be named by the original settlers in the late 1840s after the large flocks of native bush turkeys in the area. It was here that the first Shiraz vines were planted in 1847, propagating from cuttings from Hermitage Hill in the Rhône Valley in the 1830s and still remaining a productive part of Turkey Flats vineyards today.
