A lovely pale yellow in colour, the nose is fresh and lively, reflecting the wine’s mountain character with notes of golden apple and hazelnut. The palate is savoury, with moderate alcohol and a persistent mineral finish.

Nosiola, the only white grape variety native to Trentino, is planted on the Pressano hill at the edge of a forest. Some vineyards reach slopes of up to 30° and sit at around 500 metres above sea level. The soils are shallow but highly mineral, with a moderate limestone content and a friable Triassic base rock that releases minerals gradually into the soil. The vines are around 35 years old on average, trained on pergola systems and planted at a density of approximately 3,500 vines per hectare.

Upon arrival at the winery, part of the grapes were destemmed and macerated for four to five days in stainless steel tanks. The fermenting must was then blended with the juice obtained from direct pressing. Fermentation continued in large acacia barrels, adding a subtle wood influence while preserving the fine, delicate aromatics of Nosiola. The wine remained on its lees for around nine months before being bottled at the end of the summer.

The different varieties were harvested and vinified separately to account for their distinct ripening times. Hand-picked grapes were crushed and briefly macerated before being pressed under inert conditions. The must was settled for 12 hours without the addition of sulphur dioxide prior to fermentation. Fermentation took place in large oak barrels and used barriques, where the wine remained for approximately 10 months. The varieties were blended only after this ageing period, with the wine typically released two years after harvest.

The four Cesconi brothers have transformed their family estate, in the village of Pressano, into one of the Trentino region’s most admired wineries. The Cesconi family previously sold all their fruit to the local cooperative in nearby Lavis, yet today they make some of Northern Italy’s most exciting white wines.
