Vetus Toro 2017
Region: Toro, Castilla y León, Spain
Bottle size: 75cl
Grape: Tinta de Toro / Tempranillo
This wine is deep cherry red in colour with an expressive nose, showing aromas of ripe fruit with a subtle touch of sweet spices. On the palate, it is well structured and perfectly balanced, with ripe tannins and a lifted acidity.
The 20 hectares of 25 to 60-year-old south-facing vines are located on sandy and clay soils in Villabuena del Puente. They are planted with Tinta de Toro, thought to be Tempranillo, which has adapted to the continental climate of this area.
The Antón family (of Izadi and Finca Villacreces) have also invested in the Toro DO, purchasing 20 hectares of Tinta de Toro (the local name for Tempranillo) vines in 2003. The 25 to 60-year-old, south-facing vineyards are located on sandy and clay soils in Villabuena del Puente.
