A complex and rich Malbec, with floral aromas, black pepper and toasty spice notes which are underpinned by a wealth of black fruit flavours. Opulent, with smooth tannins and balancing freshness through to a long, satisfying finish.
It’s the result of the co-fermentation Malbec-Malbec coming from two different vineyards. 50% of this wine comes from Las Compuertas at 1100 masl planted on loamy clay soil a and a rocky subsoil with a great drainage, the other 50% coming from Gualtallary at 1400 masl planted on limestones soils that give Malbec its spicy characteristics. Fermentation is done with 50% whole bunches with wild yeasts in small french oak vats between 26º to 28ºC. Aging goes on in these same French oak vats until the next vintage.
Matías Riccitelli was born in Cafayate, Salta, a charming village in northern Argentina where wine is lived and breathed. A tireless traveler and dreamer, Matías trained as a winemaker in one of Argentina’s most prestigious wineries. After traveling the world through multiple harvests, gaining experience and anecdotes, he decided to blend everything he learned throughout his career with the teachings of his mentor and father, Jorge Riccitelli. Thus, in 2009, Riccitelli Wines was born. The winery is located in Las Compuertas, in the highest area of the traditional Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, at 1,100 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.).
