On the nose are aromas of dried fruit, lemon verbena, candied pineapple and a hint of flint. The palate has remarkable tension and structure, with a vibrant citrus acidity and a persistent finish.
The Loiserberg vineyard lies west of the town of Langenlois at 350-390 metres above sea level. Classified as Erste Lage, or 'Premier Cru', this single vineyard has a south-southeastern exposure and a relatively cool, continental climate that gives consistently healthy fruit. Soils are comprised of mica slate which lends a distinguishable minerality to the final wines. The vines are Lenz Moser and Guyot trained at a density of 2,500-5,000 per hectare and range from 10 to 55 years of age.
The Loimer estate vineyards lie around Langenlois in the cool yet sunny Kamptal area to the north-west of Vienna. Divided into 100 parcels and planted on seven different soil types, the 85 hectares of vineyard offer huge potential for great complexity in the wines, while their high altitude and south/south-east-facing aspects encourage the development of aromatic compounds in the grapes. The conversion to biodynamic viticulture began in 2006, resulting in official Respekt certification for all estate wines.
