Familia Torres Salmos 2018
Familia Torres Salmos
Region: Priorat, Cataluna, Spain
Bottle size: 75cl
Grape: Cariñena and Garnacha
A polished and engaging red, with packed-in flavors of kirsch, ripe currant and anise, flanked with mountain herb, espresso and spice elements. A nicely integrated acidity keeps this harmonious and balanced.
Salmos is a tribute to the monks of the Carthusian Monastery of Scala Dei, who arrived in Priorat in 1194 and introduced winegrowing there. It is made from grapes mostly sourced from our La Giberga vineyard in Porrera, a scenic spot featuring terraces standing on llicorella slate soils, with strong temperature fluctuations between day and night, contributing to the allure of this wine.
Founded in 1870, Familia Torres is widely regarded as one of the world’s most innovative wineries. They are also one of Spain’s leading producers of premium quality wines – a position which was recognised when they were presented with ‘The World’s Most Admired Wine Brand’ award. Miguel A. Torres is widely regarded as one of Europe’s leading wine visionaries. After studying oenology and viticulture in Dijon and Montpellier he was responsible for pioneering a number of significant technological advances in the field of winemaking in both Spain and Chile.
