On the nose, it has abundant aromas of ripe citrus fruit, grapefruit, white flowers and a touch of acacia honey. The palate shows refreshing acidity, interesting mineral characters, a light hint of ripe apple and a final burst of zingy lemon to lift the finish. This is a beautifully balanced wine, with a soft mouthfeel that retains a wonderful lifted, fresh character.

The grapes for this wine come from a south-facing single vineyard, located at 360 metres above sea level, on the east slopes of the Alta Valle Esina at the foot of San Vicino Mountain, near Matelica. The vines were planted between 1999-2000 at a density of 1,666 to 3,500 plants per hectare and Guyot trained. Yields are approximately seven tonnes per hectare.

The grapes were pressed and the must cold settled before fermentation took place at cold temperatures for over 20 days. The wine was then aged in stainless-steel tanks before bottling.

Cantine Belisario is a 300-hectare cooperative winery in the Matelica DOC, Marche, founded in 1971, where the only permitted grape is Verdicchio. The co-op owns 24 hectares of organically farmed vineyards, inland from the Castelli di Jesi DOC, where the climate is more continental. Here, the combination of warm days and cool nights extend the growing season, allowing the grape's aromatics to develop. As a result, harvest occurs as late as the second half of October. These vines are the source of Cantine Belisario’s organic ‘Vigneti B’ Verdicchio.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0506/5405/2509/files/CantineBelisarioVignetidelCerroVerdicchiodiMatelica.jpg?v=1789566134
https://www.londonendwines.com/products/cantine-belisario-vigneti-del-cerro-verdicchio-di-matelica-2025
