The complex silty loam soils alongside the close proximity to the coast moderate vine vigour and assist with long and slow ripening. The small parcel of clone 95 Chardonnay was planted in 2001 and is VSP trained and cane pruned. The vineyard is managed by Fiona and Hamish Turner with an ever-increasing commitment to regenerative viticulture.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe hand-picked Chardonnay was gently whole-bunch pressed with the unsettled free-run juice filling one 25-hectolitre botte with the remainder going into small French oak puncheons. It was slowly fermented on full solids using indigenous yeast before going to natural malolactic fermentation and maturing on lees for a total of 15 months to gain richness and complexity.
