Here the expressive nose is spicier and a bit more floral as well with its baked plum, black cherry and soft earth scents.

the appellation was cited as a Tete de Cuvee in the 1855 book by Dr Lavelle. The vineyard is half way up the slope in a privileged geographical position situated just after Volnay Taillepieds and Clos de Chenes. The wall which goes right around the vineyard can still be seen today.

Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils, is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy, perpetuating tradition for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations. This desire to build up an exceptional estate in Côte d’Or endured through the generations and acquisitions in the best Villages were added throughout the 19th century and again in the early 20th century.
